1. Changes

changes lyrics david bowie

Changes was a single release in 1972 from the album Hunky Dory.

The song charted only in the US at #41. Bowie also played the sax on this track, his first time doing so. Although the single didn't do so well on initial release, after the next album the song for some reason picked up some success and it was re-issued in 1975 as the B-side of Space Oddity. Changes was Bowie's last song on stage before his passing in 2016. The song also charted once more after Bowie's death.

5. Starman

david bowie star man lyrics

Starman hails from David bowie's 1972 album Ziggy Stardust or as it's officially called The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.

The song did well, charting in several countries and reaching #65 in the US and #10 in the UK. The song Round And Round, a Chuck Berry cover, was removed to make way for Starman.

This song was the one that got Bowie the recognition he deserved in the music business. The chorus was based slightly on the Judy Garland song Over The Rainbow from The Wizard Of Oz.

The song inspired the creation of the 1977 film Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and the song appears in TV and film scores.
